A very loud wining sound rushed around him. Gerald pulled the glider around. He had obviously noted what was going on. He brought the machine to a halt just about a few yards in front of him and opened the sidedoor. Jeff jumped over the rail and just by a few inches would have fallen down. He grabbed the grip and fell on the copilot sear. The glider began to swing, but it was big enough not to tilt. He heard shots hissing through the air. "Damn it!", Gerald shouted. "If he makes me scratches to the painting, I kill him!", he said. Jeff pulled the grip down and the door closed. Gerald pulled the flightstick back and the machine made a jump forward. Gerald zog den Gleiter herum. Offensichtlich hatte er erkannt was geschah. Einige Meter vor Jeff bracht er den Gleiter zum Halt und oeffnete die Beifahrertuer. Sie schwang nach oben. Er hatte das Ende des Sims erreicht und sprang ueber die Bruestung. Er waere fast ueber den Rand gefallen, griff die Tuer und warf sich auf den Sitz. Der Gleiter schwankte, aber er war gross genug, nicht zu kippen. Er hoerte wie Schuesse durch die Luft hallten. "Verflucht!", stiess Gerald aus. "Wehe der macht mir Kratzer in den Lack!". Jeff zog an dem Inneren Griff und die Tuer schloss sich. Gerald zog den Steuerknueppel nach hinten und die Maschine machte einen Satz nach vorne. "Das war knapp!", sagte Jeff nur. Gerald schuettelte mit dem Kopf.
