On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I think monochrome wins out here Bill. Its a fine picture that somehow has a more balanced feel about it in todays format

In this one I feel I should hurry toward the gate and the light to avoid something unseen!

The black and white does look right for this image.Well done.

Oooh! From a nice, peaceful cemetery to an ominous one, type Alfred Hichcock. Sorry about that, Bill, but having seen both images, this one somehow strikes me as a bit, well, ominous. It's the dark grays and the long, nearly black shadows that give that feeling. The sky also looks foreboding. This shows what a shift in color can do with an image. I wonder what the impression would be if the image here were to be considerably lightened? Keep up the good work! :-)

It sure changes the mood alright. Very dull now :)

Wow - what a difference the B&W makes! This does have an eerie feel to it, and yet a rather peaceful feel at the same time. I'm not sure why it hits me the way it does... recent events, perhaps, but whatever the reason, I like it very much. It seems the clouds stand out so much more in this version. The open space in the hedge/fence near the center with the slightly lighter landscape and mountains beyond seems to be a metaphor - it seems to say 'The journey does not end here..' Very cool, Bill!

Watch out for the ghosts!

Oooh, save it for Halloween, Bill. What a gothic image! Love it! Shades of Edgar Allen Poe. Phenomenal ambience in this one.

What a change, it looks very brooding here now and what one would expect in a cemetary in a film.

Yes, a bit spooky this way; maybe that's how cemetaries are supposed to be? I like it both ways myself.

It sure is Bill. Its amazing what that has done to the picture. It looks like it is straight out of a Frankenstein movie!
