Description
The Iconic Tower Bridge over the river Thames in London on a crisp ,clear autumn day .A little known fact is that in 1968 a disgruntled RAF pilot flew his Hawker Hunter jet through the bridge as a protest against the then Labour government's lack of any plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the RAF . The pilot , Flight Lieutentant Alan Pollock , very experienced , was quietly ushered out of the force on medical grounds rather than court martialled which would have brought more publicity to his protest !

What a story, never heard of that. Given our government attitude no matter who's in power it doesn't surprise me. Wonderful shot of Tower Bridge!

Nicely framed, no frills shot of this historic bridge against a perfect blue sky. Fine work...

Yeah and the reality was that for an experienced pilot used to low level strike flying there was OOOOOODLES of room in which to fit through. I mean he would have had to have been blind to hit anything! The traffic on the other hand would have gotten a thrill!!!!!! He was partially exonerated in the 1980's.

Oh boy. It's 20 years ago I walked over this bridge. The first coming in mind when I saw this picture just before reading the text was to fly through the bridge. :-) Well nice that I was not the only one with this idea. :-) Was this the same government who deleted the TSR 2 program?
