Description

Valentines A Valentine to thaw the heart. When E.B. Browning counted ways she loved She used the luscious language of her times: Romantic words with sweet propriety. Today? We lust for drumbeat Hip Hop prose; Go ga ga over street rap or strum On “gitters” backing up the sinus twang Of country western folks who probably Have never saddled up or rode a horse. It seems we’ve lost the soul of words now Need Face Book anonymity to talk In twittered conversations far from who We are … as if computer texting owns The art of making us desirable. Who dares to challenge electronic’s grand Religion? Digital divinity Will never grape the meaning of a child; Explain how passions walking hand in hand Desiring future possibilities of lives Enduring agonies of living to Find wondrous meaning being joined as one. It’s time for Valentines to be much more Than meaningless cliches. Computers will Not ever feel the magic of a kiss. jo_dis 2012

JD: HELLO! .... WELL written! .... As one who has OFTEN been TOLD by OTHERS to, "KISS their ***", this OLD geezer fondly HOPES that YOU and YOURS got to PUCKER UP today and all days .... SMILES I'm not as hung up on what 'styles' folks use to 'communicate' .... I enjoyed Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Ogden Nash .... Im' MUCH more concerned with WHAT folks are communicating .... I put out my FEEBLE attempts at writings here and there and just HOPE to get someone's brain cells to find a 'receptive' connection within .... I worked in business for years and sales .... It was taught and I quickly learned, that no matter how 'brilliant' the sales PERSON was, they first had to ''get in the door'', so to speak. For the record: I find YOU to be one of the BEST, true 'writers' here .... But, even beyond that to ME, I find your writings THOUGHT PROVOKING .... My BEST to you and yours .... TallPockets/Brian.

Well again, you are so very right! For me, no matter the current circumstance, today is one to yes, thaw the heart indeed. Your words for the way we find ourselves living these days, this 21st Century way, ring ring ring! We communicate yes, but is there really any depth there? Touch maybe and gone! Quick as a flash. The good part I see is that because we are here, there is hope and we can make it what we wish. Just maybe it's possible to have that holding of hands, that kiss that isn't on the computer, that depth in relationship that brings of all things, Happiness! You are thought provoking as ever. No matter how it may seem, I do appreciate you, deeply! I call you friend!

Oh, I don't know. I met my husband here on Renderosity. Neither of us was looking, but that's usually how it happens, isn't it? Of course that takes away nothing from your talented writing, and your poem is well done and well said!

I'm in awe of your words... from heart and soul, experience, touch... smooth and texture... the lingering kiss, the soft gaze of eyes in eyes... your words inspire...
