Valentine's Day has such a strange history, with martyrdom, and ambivalence by some of the old church fathers about how much love should be celebrated & what kind, etc. But as with other very old holidays, the celebrators rose to the top & made it about love of all kinds, and transcended the church fathers' concerns...But of course, this is ultimately an extension of your penetrating chakra series where you, in my opinion, visualized chakras as beautifully as I've seen anywhere, and brought them into harmony with their sensual side (the 'bloom of the universe' as it's sometimes been called). In addition to the "explosion" here---a heart that's opened itself-up for the world---you have all those undulations, the way your hues morph & move & undulate their way through the petals, and morph from one hue-family to another, all with great ease. It's as if you see these things with a kind of chakric 'x-ray vision', grabbing hues that are inherent in the plants, and not just shining the lights 'upon' them. In meditation, these colors will appear to some, always undulating, circling and embracing the living world. To others, sounds will come instead. To some, both, and more. Then, to some, there are neither colors nor sounds---which is not a 'lesser' meditation, just that form which suits each person's nature. But in your visual meditations, the world undulates with these colors, and the colors move through petal after petal in a kind of perpetual bloom. Butterflies of course are symbols of a transitory beauty (since they emerge & last such a short time): But in the meditative world, such transitory moments last forever. I suppose you could say that if there were a place where they do last, this is that place. It's the right 'land'... Another observation (if I haven't already made it): Some of your paint-work is like oil. One can see oil-like textures in several places here. (As an old oil painter, this can only make me smile...) And I also noticed that the light from the center is in gentle proportion: I.e., it doesn't dominate the piece, but rather intimates a greater light within. While the heart chakra is envisioned as the meeting place of all centers, it still has a massive light of its own. You've captured that once again. Beautiful work all around.
