Description

Hooray! For the first time in this project, here’s an image I’m genuinely happy with. Newcastle put on a nice warm sunset and provided some fresh subject matter, and it all came together. This has been processed as a stack of two images for improved depth of field - I shot two versions, with the wharf and ship in focus respectively, but neither felt right. I prefer this blend, even if it is a bit quick and dirty! Note: I'm running a Project 365, aiming to shoot and post a new photo every day. I'm posting them here on a 2 week delay - if you want to follow this as it happens, see my blog: Lucis+Umbra - photography by c.j. kerr Astute viewers will note that Day 3 is missing - I'm not terribly proud of it, but you can view it here: Day 3 on Lucis+Umbra Previously:

When I looked at the thumbnail, in which you cropped the vertical post on the wharf, it looked to me like the wharf was a massive wooden structure on the distant shore, rather than a foreground object. I was a little disappointed when I saw the full size photo, but it's a fine image & the blend of the two photos was done very well. I like the quality of the light in this shot a lot...

There's nothing wrong with day 3's pic. I'm currently saving for an equatorial mount & telescope to get into astrophotography. Looks like it needs time & patience :)
