Description
One of my brushes with greatness. Back in 2004 and 2005 I spent about 4 months working on a screen accurate replica of the Valley Forge from "Silent Running". "Silent Running" is a 1972 environmentally themed science fiction film starring Bruce Dern and directed by Douglas Trumbull. It's not a super-action-packed-blockbuster, but it's a nice concept and has a great story.
Douglas Trumbull, had previously worked as a special effects supervisor on such science fiction films as "2001: A Space Odyssey" and 1970's version of "The Andromeda Strain".
Coincidently, Douglas Trumbull was at the SciFi Museum in Seattle in 2005. I was not able to attend, but a friend of mine was able show him the work I'd done on the model, and get his signature (which still hangs proudly in my studio). It things like this that make all the toil of 3d modeling worth while. :-D
Anyway, I just thought I'd share it and some detailed renders of the model.
Comments and Critique always welcome.
