Description

This is inside the Louisiana old Manson that have tours and you can book a wedding there. I hear a woman who went to our church that dream of getting marry there and she was working for the present la. Government and she and her boyfriend did get marry in the old Manson. A fairy tale dream come true . anyway I walked into the building and the guides told me welcome and that this was build by Huey P. Long. I say the Governor that cheated Louisiana. I explained why that was so for he give the oil rights to to Us Government so he could be Governor. Earl Long tried to get the rights back but the US Government say no and had other governors tried but to no effect. And people wonder why Louisiana is last in everything. of couse my son wish he could find a hole to run into when i do stuff like this. but that is me so if you with me and I do stuff like this I sorry do not know who the painting is. bul i liked it with the lighting oh the photos is of Huey P. Long

Really beautiful. I went in several of those old plantations when I was down south some years ago. They are sure gorgeous. Imagine living in one!

Good job! Some things need to be remembered! In Edmonton, they named a park after a mayor called Hawrelak, who was convicted of crimes in office, so I still call it Mayfair Park, the old name. There are so many Ukrainians that did well for our city and province but they name it after a convicted felon, so we do need to remember!

Soft and lovely color effects in this wonderful foto, Jock. I received my basic training at Fort Polk near Leesville and Camp Beauregard near Alexandria, Louisiana, when I was in the Army. And I remember Huey Long very well.

What a beautiful image! This is what I think of when I think of Southern mansions. Graceful, gracious, understated, yet obvious consumption. (I mean that like in spending money, not like the sickness.) A lovely corner!

Really cool Jocko. I was fortunate to see some of the old mansions in Tennessee and they are quite unique. Nice capture.

Great photo. I like old paintings of rich people like that, similar to the ones in old Europe. Except here the family that is high and mighty at the time of the picture had grandparents who were dirt poor. Anybody can be an aristocrat for a while here, not just the old bloodlines. Guess that's progress of a sort. Probably changing now, the people in charge tend to marry other people in charge and all their kids go to Ivy League schools together, so we move toward the same hereditary aristocracies our forbears ran away from. My daddy was fond of quoting from Huey P. Long the Kingfish, who supposedly said "I'll kiss your ass today to get to kick it tomorrow." Knew he was a crook, but didn't know about the oil rights. Might have been president if he hadn't got shot.

Huey Long was a typical southern wheeler and dealer. The stories about him are fascinating. Not that I think he did anything for the state...but he sure did do alot to help himself. Guess your boy would run screaming from me too. LOL I love this shot of a comfortable southern home.

If I highered an artist to paint my wife, I'd have it in a mona liza style... the tall body is great, but look at all the darkness painted compaired to the space the face took up.
