Description

The NatureAcademy lesson for this week was called "Desert" But I thought that with so much vegetation, it can't really be a desert. As a South African, the end result looks familiar to me, as if I have been there. But perhaps it is only because I spent to much time on this scene. Almost a million faces in it - 40000 pebbles, 6000 background trees, etc. Getting the colour of the grass right took a lot of adjusting and re-rendering. It was fun though, and I learned a lot.

This is just amazing, Nanette. Your trees are superb, and the work you did with the color of the ground and the grasses really paid off. Outstanding image!

You definitely have the feeling-tones of the desert in the late afternoon exactly right, Nanette. Another example of just how incredible this programme really is! Very nice work, indeed... a million faces. FireFly would choke... lol

Thank you so much. Yes, the learning has been huge - I have followed every tutorial and done a lot of experimenting on my own. I feel much more at home with Blender's new interface and have begun to explore the new features. My eyes have been opened to how powerful Blender really can be.

Once again, a very well done image. My only question is, should't the rocks and trees be casting shadows?
