It does bring many possibilities to mind. Maybe she just told him she was pregnant and he told her his wife would never understand that ... or she's trying to let him down easy while dumping him for another woman ... or, as you said, uttering pure words of forever endearment to each other... But what I love most is the possibilities in this powerful composition. Stellar work.
