Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Rosie looks to be a very quick learner, she is so cute. Sorry I have missed so many of your lovely postings but I am still busy learning. I hope to be back in a couple of weeks or so.

What a cute photo if this quiet time. Lol the ladies are copy cats too, each resting their right arms and in full concentration. Rosie looks like she is comfortably enjoying her nap. Buster is a good teacher and Rosie is a quick learner! Thanks for sharing Andrea.

another of your touching & fine portraits, with a lot of humanity & love, on top of very sensitive design. The two women in a row make it feel like a large room with people resting, part of them perhaps napping. It's a strong visual design (the 'row' feeling) without losing an ounce of their humanity. And you captured them so relaxed, even their clothes just fall over the shot. And Rosie looks so content & at peace. Wonderful angle. And the contrast of this woman's slightly violet-blue sweater (lavender maybe?) with her darker blue skirt, with Rosie decked out on it, make a beautiful visual impact. More beautiful portraiture from you, and it looks like you've postworked the background to both recede and also stand out. It stands out, but it's totally non-intrusive. Very fine work once more.
