Description

Iggy is another one of our neighbors. S/he has built a resting place in the black olive tree between our patio and the lake. I am not ready to call it a nest yet as I am not sure it is male or female. S/he is about 30 inches (76 cm) long. This was taken yesterday while I was photographing Dolly. When I see Iggy warming up in the morning, I throw out romaine lettuce. Unknown to me, Iggy was waiting for breakfast behind me. A quick move by me and Iggy dove into the lake and started to swim away, very fast and underwater, but must have thought about not getting breakfast. S/he stopped in a shallow area to look back and check me out. I only got this one shot before Iggy was gone. I love the golden eyes and the Godzilla look. Not the best focus! Do zoom! Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

I always thought they were more of a desert animal, but then, we don't have those way up here.

I think I like the look of Iggy being half submerged much more, than a full on frontal - this speaks action to me! - you very lucky to get this shot in relative clean water - brill Dana, BB

Day of the iguana! Really great capture considering the refusal of Iggy to pose for a still shot, Dana, and the pic looks good and sharp to me. I wonder why Iggy is so shy. He/she should realize in her reptilian brain that if he/she would be friendly and cooperative then that means more romaine lettuce treats.
