Description

The Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is a twin-engine carrier-based multirole fighter aircraft. The F/A-18E single-seat variant and F/A-18F tandem-seat variant are larger and more advanced derivatives of the F/A-18C and D Hornet. The Super Hornet has an internal 20 mm gun and can carry air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface weapons. Additional fuel can be carried with up to five external fuel tanks and the aircraft can be configured as an airborne tanker by adding an external air refueling system. Please zoom for a better look.

One reason for me not to visit Australia if they have hornets THAT big! Now where's Neil's can of bug spray? Cool photo. How could you get in on the base? (I'm thinking security here.) And, what local foes does Australia have to need such a super airplane? I like the photo very much, but it also raises a few questions in my mind. Bzzzz, bzzz, bzzzzzz! I have a plastic model of the F/A-18c by Hasegawa but haven't got it assembled yet. Keep up the good work! :-)

Great to see one of these in Australian marking for a change. The stuff on the table looks cool too. T.Rex if you think the hornets are pesky you should visit NSW and see the flies :)

Yes, and we'll be seeing Super Hornets till maybe next century the way the JSF program is going...;-) There is some serious firepower on display too... see the right hand margin, that ain't no pop-gun. Better stay behind the cordon... eh?

I love these birds, though not the fact that they replaced the old F-14 Tomcats.
