My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Neat idea to show how a lock works.. Most here still work and you work them yourself! lol But, you do it like that! Great series of shots and a lovely looking place as well.. Good one.. Rob

Great photo and story about the locks. Now where are the bagels? LOL

Excellent set of shots to illustrate the workings of this lock. I got a lot of hands-on experience with these, and other commonly used waterway regulatory devices on my canal trip several years back in France, fun and very educational!

Great illustrative shots. we have very similar locks here in London on the canals, and at a place called Teddington Lock where the TV studios are, but that's a whole different story, maybe I will go there one day and shoot a few for ya :}

Ah, ye olde lockes. Nice series of photos. Simple, but not so simple to construct. Yet, they got the job done! Keep up the good work. :-)

Sometimes I'm hiking along a canal like this, south of Paris. Very peaceful.
