This is epic and scary. The lighting and effects really enhance the drama of this. I think if they do come back, we are in trouble. I have noticed the sky lately too and there is another planet up there I don't always see, I thought it might be Jupieter or Mars, but my stargazing is seriously lacking. It's almost gone now too.

This is fantastic, in every sense. That would be more than scary to see!! Let's hope it's all just a lot of wild imaginings. Excellent work, Ian! Last night in the west was the crescent moon, Venus beside it and Jupiter about 4 degrees below to the SE of the moon. Mercury is in there too 28 degrees from Venus. You can't always see Mercury though. Mars and Saturn are visible in the NEE part of the sky. You can't miss Mars - it's very red right now and is at aphelion, furthest from the Sun. It rises about 8-9 pm and will be in direct opposition to the Sun on March 3. Mars will also be coming very close (cosmically speaking) to Earth this year. I'm not sure if the largish star to the right of Mars is Regulus in Leo or if it's Saturn, but Saturn's over there in the east, too.
