Description
We were waiting the green light for the pedestrians to cross the street and buy a newspaper at the newsstand, when we saw this scene. An old lady was riding her bicycle full of shopping bags very slowly in front of the tram. The tram driver sounded the horn, but she simply ignored it. While every now and then a cyclist gets trapped by the tracks, or simply ignores every article of the road code and gets hit, cyclists play the victims and have the gall to claim for compensation. So far they lost in court.
Thanks for your kind comments.

When I see, who people behave in the streets, it's not wonderous at all, that there are a lot of accidents every day!

Ahh yes, the all too well known people who don't pay attention to their surroundings and end up wreaking havoc... nevertheless a lovely scene although the outcome a little sad... I agree though, impeccable timing!

because of situations like this, transit companies have installed "dash cams" in the pilot's cabin to record everything.... maybe the bicyclist remembers only a day when bikes had the right of way on the side of the roads, before the rails came in... either way... cool shot!

a few days ago a newly wed couple for some dumb reason decided to walk across a bridge for a high speed commuter train and they were hit knocking them into the lake.the man was killed and the lady seriously injured. when my son was still young he almost got hit by a train crossing a bridge.he barely made it safely

Tragically, many people discount the presence of a tram. It never ends well.

Bella immagine di un momento di Vita comune e di vizi comuni !

Poor old lady was probably deaf and should not be riding her bike, but maybe she had nobody to help her with her shopping, so the handle bars of the bike were her saving for that. Excellent photography, hugs Jane xx

Great photo and story - the bleeding hearts in the US are always willing to give millions to stupid people that get hurt doing something illegal.

Great capture and statement Sandra!

We have that problem where we live, too - bicyclists wanting to have the rights of both pedestrian and automobile, depending on which ones suit them at the time. It makes for many accidents.

We get cyclists that ignore a red traffic light and just ride on - asking for trouble. But getting trapped in the rails is nothing new; I can remember a dreadful accident when a cyclist got her bike stuck in the tramlines - back in London in the fifties - and got run down and killed by a lorry or a bus.

What a shot! It captures so much of human nature: as a species, we do tend to have a talent for tempting Fate in ways that Fate shouldn't be tempted. Somehow we haven't substantially reduced our numbers by doing so. As for this shot itself; it's such a wonderful snapshot of things I once saw daily: flower kiosks, ornate (or semi-ornate) buildings and zillions of trams (only the ones I saw daily were red and more blocky in shape.) Wonderfully seen. I love these snapshots into life on another continent! And it's gorgeous!

Ottimo tempismo. La scena esprime pienamente il disagio della situazione. Ben fatto
