The thumb nail says it all! Ha, ha! This is fun!
This is the other of my two Japanese destroyers - the "Arashi" in 1:700 scale by Hasegawa, assembled by me in 1985. Again, this was assembled without painting since the color of the plastic matched that of the original ship.
Length - 15.5 cm..
The "Arashi" was a Kagero class destroyer. This class was constructed 1939 - 1941.
Length over all - 388 feet 9 inches
Beam - 35 feet 5 inches
Draught - 12 feet 4 inches
Weight - 3,490 tons
Speed - 35 knots
Crew - 240 officers and men
Armament -
Six 5 inch 50 caliber DP guns in 3 turrets
Twenty eight 25 mm. anti-aircraft guns
Four 13 mm. anti-aircraft guns
Eight 24 inch torpedo tubes
For those of you who haven't seen this link in my previous post and are interested, or just curious about the IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy), there's a good web site at
http://www.combinedfleet.com
It's the best site I've been able to find thus far.
Enjoy!

Another neat model Michael. There is an aircraft carrier home ported near where we live and when it is 'home', there are always 2-3 destroyers with it. Problem for me so far is getting close enough to get pictures.

A trip down memory lane for me. Except my modeling days were in the mid sixties. Thanks for posting this cool model.

Damn you!!! I've started looking for blueprints...if 'Tailspin' gets his hands on one of these he'll never stay on the duckpond....but then again, I've always got the U-Boat if he gets out of hand :-) Really enjoying these, interesting to see the different designs, and some very interesting information too...
