modelled in AutoCAD2000 using solids.
based on David Drake's "Hammer's Slammers"
Drawn to scale. Eventually to be translated into poser-friendly fully poseable vehicular prop.

Kewl,I would love to use that at my mechwarrior clan website in some poser renders..

well, when it is done and transmogrified into a wavefront .OBJ format prop it'll be up for sale. Dave says it doesn't look all that much like what he had in mind, but he gave me permission to market 3d models based on his books. Nice guy.

Nice modeling. So, how did you do the nice rounded looking shape? Is this vanilla Acad?
demosthenes_aborigin
thanks. what on Earth is "vanilla Acad"? The program I use is straight-out-of-the-box AutoCAD 2000. The tank is modelled in solids, using (primarily) the draw>solids>extrude command, extruding from mixed coplanar polylines, arc sections, and splines around "paths" of polylines, arc sections, and splines. The plenum skirt was produced in "quarters" since the damned program refused to do what I told it to do - and then unioned. The hull was pruduced by creating an oversized solid rectangular prism, then extruding hull contours in the negative, and subtracting those negative solids to get to the final shape. The gun tube and turret were "revolved" rather than extruded. Details are either solids added by "union" or reliefs produced by "subtract" Notes on wip: The turret and gun tube are not to my liking, so I am redesigning them. The nacelles will have (optional) fully modelled multi-stage fans, with individually rotating rings of rotors interspersed with rings of stator airfoils, in the "lift" section - which gimbals - and the fixed "compressor" stage. I'm still designing these bastards, but they are coming along. I hope that answers your questions. Now, what the HELL is "vanilla" Acad???
