Description

This is the north entrance (it's sort of the back door) to the Lynnwood Convention Center, which opened in 2005. The other day I said I'd give you a break from architecture. Well, I did, and now it's over! Muahaahaahaahaa!!! Now I'm going to bury you in architecture every day until I get tired of it and decide to do something else. :P It's easy to find interesting corners and close-in shots of older buildings. Modern architecture presents a different challenge. I had to find the lines and proportions of this building in order for it to make sense and have meaningful context, photographically speaking. I did take shots of parts of the building, and you know I'm going to make you look at them, but it really was a challenge to shoot this building! The monthly Forum Challenge for the photography gallery is Architecture. (You know how much fun I'm having! LOL!) Check it out! FORUM CHALLENGE FOR MARCH: ARCHITECTURE

I think they could have spent a bit more money on the garden.

Bare bones and I agree about the 'garden'. Rather a cold feel to this place. I love the reflections,of which I'm sure you'llshow us more!

;-) Now Tara.. Here we have an example of an Architect gone mad! He seems to either A/ Run out of money and forget to build the inside walls, thus leaving a painted outside one to look stupid.. Or! b/ Been on drugs! The entrance he seems to have had enough money to spend or his supplier had not arrived with the 'stash' yet! lol It's an awful modern design... But makes a great photograph....damn it! lol ;-) Rob

Yes the challenge, I stop abruptly after one shot, I am a nature photographer by nature LOL! But nothing against those that enjoy and expertly capture architecture, I agree about modern buildings, I'd rather see something Victorian or earlier, that all the metal and glass of a modern structure. There now I have finished waffling on this is a great POV you chose for this Tara.

You did get a great POV, bravo to you! I don't know if I'd have tried, these kind of buildings just don't stir me much, although I can see a few angles and views here that might just make me sit up and go hmmmmm...I like that pair of orange "wings" with the jutting dark glass windows. I do think a lot more planting would help the feel of it, though. It reminds me too much of my high school, which was very "modern" for the time, and way too full of concrete!

Well you've taken this moderistic structure and made it look very appealing, Tara! There's a wonderful contrast between the blue sky and the copper/orange planes.
