Description

Cover work undertaken for a e-book pulp adventure series called Uchronic Tales by Peter Miller. Our Hero is caught up in a chase across town. Very enjoyable story. Thanks for looking.

I love it! This is one of your strongest pieces to date! It really conveys a nice sense of movement and energy. Not only are the poses dead on (I might be tempted to say that the gun arm needs to come down just a smidge so we can see a dramatic expression on his face, but I think that might make it weaker because his arm would then be lower behind the driver's back, thus weakening the sense of action). The energy in the wheel is captivating to me -- I keep looking at it to see how you did it; those brush strokes are fantastic. I also love the blast of light from the headlight -- it's so wonderfully minimalist that it works to draw our eyes right to the action. I also really like that there are almost no details on the driver's leg -- it just fades away down there to great effect. The composition is really strong, too -- plenty of space at the bottom for text. The only thing I don't love is the roof of the car. It just looks unfinished for some reason. But I do love the blurring of the cycle wheel and the background behind the car -- you really convey a great sense of movement there. And the green sky. I would have thought it would look too Christmasy, what with the read foreground, but it doesn't. The red and green work perfectly here to help enhance the mood and sense of action. Thanks so much for posting this. I looked this up on Amazon and I'm definitely going to pick up a copy soon. (BTW: I love how you moved your signature for the printed version -- great sense of design. Did you do the text for the printed version? I didn't really like the colors or fonts selected, but since you posted the art only here, I'll save that discussion for another time.)
