Description

Thank you for stopping for a closer look. Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated. These images are taken from standing on my back porch. Well now we have our first sign that spring is serious about coming early. The river broke wide open this morning. This is about 3 weeks early. Still lots of snow around. But with the river ice broken open its obvious spring is almost here. You notice in the top image especially how thick the ice still is. Have a great weekend! Jim

WOW, Jim! Such a sight! Is it dangerous when it's like this? Do you get flooded? I should love to see more of where you live.

So interesting to see this great shots, Jim. Indeed what thick ice, and I like the colors and textures which are to see on the ice.

Funny thing is about winter (or the lack of it)..This is only the second time in all the years that they did not allow ice fishing on our inland lakes..(either too thin or non existent). But of course their are those that will and have had done so and needed rescuing....It's been many a years since I've seen ice as thick as what your images depicts on any of our lakes....The lack of winter and frozen tundra is probably why we are in the mid to upper 70's already and it's only March for crying out loud.... Nice Capture Jim! p.s ..the "Polar Plunge" this year wasn't so bad considering the water was much warmer without all the winter ice.....(smiles)..

aaargh....you live with all that water near your house? I've never seen a river with such thick ice in England. It seriously means business, and I am pleased for you that it's breaking up:-) You can surely drive a car across it in the winter.

Awesome shots Jim. I'm sure you can get many more pics. the floating ice changes the scenery almost every 5 min. It is always exciting to watch the ice breaking up every Spring and all I have to do is look out the back-room window !! Love and Hugs.

Nice work Jim. Not sure what is in the top photo but it is a bit of a distraction maybe you could have moved your position to avoid that, and I know sometimes it is not possible, but things to look for. Have a great day. Enjoy the little bit of warmth that is coming your way.
