All of Egypt’s pyramids were constructed during this period so this picture attempts to visualise that moment when construction of the first pyramid became a forming idea. The Pharaoh, a God himself, acted as intermediary between man and the Gods and hence the importance of any “shrine,” which might better facilitate this duty. So much for the background: now for this attempt at a pictorial realisation.. You have a thin band of blue representative of the Nile, greenery to either side to portray the fertility brought to the land by the waters. The desert and rocky environment is there in the colouring, with the bedrock ideally placed to act as foundation for the intended, weighty construction. Above is the idea in the shadowy shape pointed to the heavens, and with its proposed function swelling into an interaction with the Sun – a realisation of purpose in the transmission of religious communion from man to God.
