Description

okay, you may ask... what's a Snard? It's a prairie word for the build up of ice and snow behind tires in winter conditions....where the word came from... who knows.. probably a contraction of the words snow and hard.... Snards are dangerous.... if the build up persists, it could affect handling and steering, but worst of all is when they break off while you are travelling down the highway. Imagine, travelling, oh let's say west of Redcliff, on your way to Suffield and the car or truck in front of you has four wheels worth of Snards, compressed, hardened, hard as rock, ice and snow... one of those boys breaks off and comes flying at your car (lets do the math... 10 lbs of ice at 100 kmph, times 2 equals serious bodywork and possible damaged radiator..) worst caase scenario is when the Snard becomes airborne, roughly at windshield height, the first thought is... wait... didn't I see something like this in a movie once (or twice).... I prefer to kick them off when the car is stopped or before I roll out... just for safety sakes... for those of you in, share we say, tropical climes....you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, having been lost at the words Ice and snow.... and unless you've made other plans, have a great day!

Ah yes, the early morning snard kicking ritual! Done at the same time you are chopping last nights ice off the car! (Or in one case when I was up in Fort McMurray, excavating the car from a 6 foot snow drift)

Being that I'm from Wisconsin I can relate and know very well what snards are...Love your commentary...too funny and had to stop several times due to uncontrollable laughter... Vision this if you will..... Behind a semi tractor trailer with nooooooooooo mudflaps going down a snow covered highway with no place to get away from the snards that come screaming off as it hits a bump in the road...one would think they can't bounce right...tell that to my windshield...lol.. Enjoyed your commentary and capture!..Thanks for the laughs...(smiles)..

Tropical guy here...WTF !!!...LOL I can imagine the fear of driving with this extra nasty hazard, all I have to worry about is mud slides or all the aquaplaning in the wet on the hi-ways and by-ways...whew ! Drive safe & ~Cheers~

You are right about THAT! So, there is no problem then - maybe you should move? ... you must have the meanest and hardest snowmen in the world! BB
