LOL @ Arthur! :D Excellent capture. Several years ago a neighbor planted ivy around a tree. (They were sure I was mistaken in my dire prediction of eventual tree death.) A couple years ago the tree had to come down. I believe from ivy sprig to firewood was only about 15 years.

A fine shot of a noble tree.. sad thing is, may not have been the ivy.. Not helped but, there is an Oak Disease doing the rounds in the U.K. and Europe believe.. Killing hundreds! So, may not have.. Great shot Jeff! Rob

Yes, the poor tree seems to be gasping for breath. I wonder what the ivy will do when the tree no longer provides nourishment. The town back there better worry. :)

Very droll my friend :) But my word it certainly has been overcome hasn't it! It reminds me of the Filaments/Anthers circling around the Stigma of the Daffodil I was doing macro shots of last night. Very nice shot Jeff!!

What a shame it lost its life by strangulation but it still looks pretty with its green skirt. A lovely capture of it.

some person not very smart brought a vine from China and planted either in Louisiana or Mississippi and it has taken over every place it is planted covering all the ground and telephone posts, trees, and anything in it's way outstanding capture Jeff. I have a picture somewhere in my gallery of a tree that had a vine covering it and the stalks were 2-3" in diameter near the bottom

We have a lot of invasive species in south Florida too. We have the same type of vine problems but also 15 foot (4.5 meter) Boa Constrictors. One was recently found that had taken down a 78 pound deer and managed to swallow it.

Good old Ivy hanging on for grim death, never lets up does it, my garden wall is a good example.
