Description

Shock confronts the crew of the SDF-1 as they stare out of the bridge deck windows to see not the far side of the Moon they had hoped to see but an icy wilderness devoid of life. Instruments on the bride quickly confirm that the battle-fortress is not in orbit above Earth’s Moon but is instead over the outer most planet of Earth’s Solar System – Pluto. To make matters even worse the battle-fortress is not staying in orbit but is even now making a rapid decent toward the surface below. Problems for the crew are further compounded by the fact that instruments also detect the presence of not only a large section of Macross City and the islands surrounding ocean directly below the battle-fortress but the carriers Prometheus and Daedalus. Unable to stop the rapid decent quickly enough the huge battle-fortress crashes down onto Pluto’s surface embedding itself into part of the Macross City section which had travelled with it through hyperspace In the days which follow the crew of the SDF-1 work to rescue as many of the Macross City inhabitants as possible from the refuge shelters within the city area. The crew also recover as many supplies and other materials as they able to salvage which will be needed to support a population which has grown from only the few thousand which were the SDF-1’s original crew to over 85,000. With the support of the cities surviving inhabitants the crew of the SDF-1 also work to recover the Prometheus and Daedalus carriers and attach these to the port and starboard sides of the SDF-1. Meanwhile on the bridge of the battle-fortress plans are being made for a very long voyage – The Voyage Home. Historical Note To say that Macross/Robotech is huge is an understatement. The original anime has been supplemented by additional TV series which take the story even further using alternative time-lines as well as movies and OAV’s (Original Animation Video’s – now DVD’s). Additional marketing from the original animation and its off-shoots is even huger with virtually anything and everything you can think of being able for purchase by the fans of this much loved series. To the best of my knowledge only one other Japanese animation series is bigger, that being Mobile Suit Gundam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Suit_Gundam

Wonderful trip down anime memory lane! By the way don't forget Star Blazers, or should I say Space Battleship Yamato? The live action movie is awesome, even though there are no subtitles...or even any sound with the disk I have...
