Description

The 'turtle' shells that are in a circle of course represent Turtle Island (Mother Earth) and the circle of life. Turtle is the oldest symbol for the Earth. It is the personification of goddess energy and the eternal Earth itself. If you have a Turtle totem, you must be mindful of returning to the Earth what she has given you. Honor the creative source within you.Use water and earth energies to create a harmonious flow in your life. Ask the Earth for assistance and her riches will pour forth. If a Turtle totem shows up in your life, slow down the pace of your life. Bigger, stronger, faster are not always the best ways to reach your goals. Turtle is fine teacher of the art of grounding. When you learn to ground yourself to Earth's power and strength, you place focus on your thoughts and actions and use the Earth's limitless energies rather than your own to accomplish your will. I see all these traits in you Mark. Abstract is always open to interpretation by the one viewing it and so I hope you will look to see what is here and interpret for yourself. But my interpretation is for Mark. The multiple stars within speak to me of the kindness, caring and love that shines brightly from your heart. It also represents to me your creativity and your boundless knowledge. My life has been blessed by having you in it and so this little native blessing that I offer for your birthday is to thank you for all you are, all you do and for sharing your remarkable spirit with me. The colors are those of stone, something that is strong and forever. Happy Birthday Mark, Yigaquv osaniyu adanvto adad naqvv utlogasdi nihi (May the Great Spirit's blessing be always with you.)may you have many more and may what you have given be returned to you ten fold. Nvwadohiyada Nvwatohiyadv Ale Gvgeyvi (Peace, Harmony and Love) P.S. This image came from, a recent photo I sent to you:-)

Lynn, you did an outstanding job on this lovely and thoughtful dedication for Mark. I very much enjoyed reading about the turtle totem, and its relationship with mother Earth. Knowing Mark as I do I'm quite certain that he will find this birthday dedication truly memorable. You always put so much thought and care into your art Lynn

a beautiful, teeming image & words, Lynn, and I'm truly touched by what you said & I hope I can live up to all you teach & give here. And the amazing thing about your fractal is that you captured the sense of some primal seed-resevoir, a native sacred circle, surrounded by stars & primal earthen features, giving the sense of a collection put together by native hands to symbolize all the things of earth. Amazing how you transformed those magical stones (which I loved in their original form) into this ceremony of honor & sacred bowing (replete with twig-forms and soil forms, all with rocks & fractals!) Thank you so much, Lynn, and for using those sacred rocks for my birthday. I am deeply grateful; and I'll try to remember what you wrote here & remind myself of it, as I really need to remember that in my life. Isn't it amazing how native cultures found everything in the very plants & animals before them? They didn't have to go anywhere: They found it right beneath their feet. Thank you, Lynn. This was a very special gift, and I appreciate it very much. Mitakuye Oyasin (a phrase I'm sure you know, ie, all our relations in Sioux, meaning "we're all related")---you do great honor to me b connecting me with this wisdom, and sharing it with everyone else too. Many thanks, Lynn. This is beautiful.

This is so beautiful, Lynn and the words so true for Mark. I love the stars within stars, the textures, and the contrast. The medium section where the turtle shells are, has great contours with a smooth glossy texture. Like a tree trunk, it looks inviting to touch. I like the wonderful patterns in the light colored points leading from it. The wisdom in your words is (as always) interesting and insightful, your dedication to Mark, beautiful. Lovely work. I hope you and yours are well.
