Description

Castilleja exserta ssp. venusta. One of the prettiest wildflowers, in my opinion, and very difficult to find in any quantity. I found these somewhere along Rte. 86 between Kitt Peak and Ajo, Arizona, USA. Like many plants that have stalks of flowers, the ones toward the bottom are more fully developed than the ones on top. Looking at them up close, you will observe that the fully developed flowers have a bright yellow pattern right in the middle of each flower.

Wow, you keep coming up with photos of flowers I never see, in places I visit infrequently, and still with a Saguaro in the background! Very well done!

that's some rough looking hill in the background. And an owl stand for after the owl has filled it's belly with the clover carpet crawlers.
