Description
I wasn't gonna start dedis until April, so my hands could rest. But Craig---faroutsider (gallery here)---had a birthday yesterday! Further, I wasn't gonna do 2D for the same reason, but I've neglected Craig's work too many times, so I did a painting. I hope it's ok for you Craig: My heart's in it, no matter what.
Craig has always had this inimitable sense of the Mystery in All Things. A painting of someone becomes a portrait of life's Intimations. An imaginary landscape suddenly glows with 'worlds within'. A craggy mountainside suddenly reveals countless furrows that only a sensitive artist would see & a scientist understand. Craig is both, so no surprise on either score...
When I studied biochemistry, I discovered that the immense complexity of life is deeply humbling...one becomes awed & grateful. Craig has that sense: His art is beautiful & mysterious and always has that love. He's written some of the most beautiful pieces about his father, wife & family; and he honors others the same way. And a "Craig session"---when he catches up in your gallery---is just a joy: To go through his comments is to be washed-over with Craig-dom, that wonderful sense of love, uplift & affirmation that all his friends here know. Quite simply, he's one of the kindest people on this site. His friends would agree...
Craig, I've been remiss by not visiting you more. But each time I have, I was filled with your gentle warmth & glow. You & Tara did wonderful work (see it, in both galleries), and it was through Tara that I learned of your birthday.
A blessed day to you, friend, it's been a great gift knowing you, and I wish you a wonderful birthday & many more in the deepest light & health,
Blessings in abundance, Mark

OHHH Yes. Cascades of beauty, love and light. What more can one wish for? This is such a beautiful dedication to your friend. In such a moment one almost could wish for more than one birthday a year. LOL! Happy Birthday Craig. :)

A very lovely dedi and artwork for Craig. It is like a never-ending rainbow that ends (or begins) with pure white light. I love how it changes in colors and textures on its forever journey. CC

A Markwork is always an event; this is a wonderful slow scroll down through different feelings and textures to a pool of light! Well done and a beautiful dedication!

I love the feel of this piece. It's smooth and effortless, like water running down textured glass, rather than dropping from a great height, and it soothes the soul. You've somehow included every color on the spectrum, yet made them flow together in such a way that it isn't too much. It's complex and musical, but not cacophonous. (It would be SO easy to overdo this, but you've left it in a perfect resolution.) Gorgeous work, and just right for Craig's multi-faceted and gentle personality. Happy Birthday, Craig! :)

Defies real description. Impactful. Shows your heart. By your words...you may struggle to do other things but your art demands your time and best efforts. Do not resist...we all are better for it:)

Wow, this is the most fantastic image I have seen for ages and what a delightful birthday gift. The colours are so superb and so imaginative, and the work has a wonderful flow to it. I would love to see this hanging in a huge gallery and taking up the whole wall. A fabulous work.

First of all let me say that you are truly the master of dedications Mark. Nancy said it best when she pointed out this was the most amazing image she's seen in a long time. You could've chosen a better title, as this Cascades of the heart is a lovely and expressive image. I've started at the top and work my way down several times carefully studying it. The beautiful array of colors seems to flow and almost build to a crescendo.

Extensive scrolling reveals utterly fascinating abstracted variety of colors, textures, striations, contrast, texture, ad infinitum, in this striking dedication, Mark.

This is so wonderful. I felt as though I were on a trip, and slowly scrolled down as I travelled. It went on and on, and the end is spectacular as always. What a wonderful gift for Craig!!

Thank you Mark, you've given me my very own version of Fantasia - a symphony of color, with harmony and counterpoint, melody and counter-melody, texture and timbre... Totally arresting! I'm honored and deeply moved by the image, and completely overwhelmed by your words. Thank you, my dear friend, from the depths of my being.
