Description

Along with the Bowie-style knife, this little gem was there - in this case it is a 'hunting' knife - however with a blade length of 3" (7.9cm) and a total length of almost 7" (17.65cm) it has one advantage that none of the other blades I own has - A fire starting system (the small rod at the top) so one does not have to rely on matches or a lighter to get a fire started. Considering that I live near some dormant volcanos (Mt. Saint Helens for one) the ability to get a fire going in a short time is crucial - matches can get wet and lighters can run out of fuel. This, with a basic understanding of survival knowledge, will determine my fate. thank you for the wonderful and interesting comments and faves have a great week

Hm... reminds me of when I was in the scouts, we had some stuff like this, and made fire with it too! Ever since, I've thought of surviving catastrophes. I have a wind up catastrophe radio and light, plus some other stuff, including a few books. But, if the apartment building comes down, what use? Enjoy seeing your collection. More? :-)

Also a nice addition Mike! The shorter blade may be more legal, in some states, than the 7 inch blade.

good lesson, everybody should have some survival skill training... it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it...
