One thing in mind...
I was listening to Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" earlier. "The Dark Lord rides in force tonight..." and "I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below..." sort of inspired this.
It brought to mind many things other than "Lord of the Rings" after which the lyrics were written...the Kahns and their Mongolian Hoards, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Black Knights and just war in general.

Okay new fave! New Fave! This is so awesome--I had to take it in full size to see the details which are amazing--LOVE the ghost riders behind the stunning dark rider! The song and this image certainly goes hand and hand in their legendary themes... Did I mention this was a new fave---lol
