Santa Fe working again? I thought it was bought up and long gone. Whichever, I'm thrilled to see the F7A locomotive in action again! I sure remember those train sets - F7A-F7B-F7B-F7A and a long train of cars behind them. And 4 days to get across the US from Chicago to LA. 4 days of fantastic scenery. Thanks for posting this, and the reawakened memories! :-)

People now think the country is just airports and with nothing of value between them. Flying over a country is not the same as traveling thru it. Great image.

We love trains, don't we? =) There are ppl in Middle TN/Nashville on a mission to bring back outlying commuter trains. One system has been running successfully for several years so they are eyeing which direction to go next. The largest town in the county I live in was built around a main east/west line and the station still remains (the RR company uses it for storage but keeps up the exterior wonderfully). I hope they come out this way. One of my fav things about living in Germany the year I was 19 is getting to ride the trains from our small town of Bad Kissingen to Wurzberg and Munich. Joy!
