Description
I know I showed this cover when it was submitted to the publisher, but I get pretty excited when one of the books that bare (or bear, depending on how you look at it) my work gets an award or review, so I tend to want to tell everybody ... lol.
LIFE ON HOLD, having just been released in February, got it's first review the other day, and on my birthday, at that. It was an awesome review and I wanted to share it with ya'll.
So, now that the MidSouthCon craziness is over (I was a guest panelist and an art room exhibitor), I can start screaming it (or typing it) from the rooftops. :D
First, the blurb:
A paper found.
A secret revealed.
A girl's life changed forever.
Myra Gibson's life is a lie. For sixteen years her parents have kept their secret, but the adoption paper she discovers while cleaning the guest house tells the truth. As the past and present collide, Myra finally stands up for herself and begins a journey she may regret.
Now, check out what Darby Karchut, award winning author, has to say about LIFE ON HOLD.
"All I can say is wow! Beverly Stowe McClure knocked this one out of the ballpark. The story of Myra and her search for the truth touched upon one of the fundamental needs of all children (and teens): the need for a father in their lives.
Without giving away the plot, let me say that McClure did a stellar job asking and answering an age-old question: what does [it] mean to be a father? Is it just the biological ties or is it more?
...
McClure captured the voice of the modern teen perfectly without relying on the usual snarky stereotypes we so often see in YA novels.
...
I, for one, think Beverly Stowe McClure has just written her best book yet. I've read most of her other ones and loved them all, but this one is my favorite."
In all fairness, I can't share the entire review here (hence the ellipses ;P). But I can send you to her blog to read the whole review: http://darbykarchut.blogspot.com/2012/03/book-review-life-on-hold.html

I can't thank Optitex enough for creating dynamics for Daz, or for his amazing freebies (the boyfriend sweater was perfect for this scene) and Sveva's lights are awesome!

Congratulations! Your cover is beautiful! Now I want to read this book!

Thanks, jules. It's a great book. I laughed and cried while reading it. If your interested in ordering a copy, the url to the publisher is in the description. It can also be ordered through Amazon, but I never encourage ordering books not straight through the PH. Amazon takes almost all of the profits from a book's sale, leaving almost nothing for the PH and ever less for he author.
