Description

Stanford Torus Habitat: Interior Detail This image is in follow up to my previous image posts:System States Era Stanford Torus and to Stanford Torus Detail: Docking Module Producing this detailed view of the habitat-ring interior has been an effort which stretched over the past month, with several module builds necessary (along with several re-builds) due to the complexity and detail I envisioned. The model will not fit in a single Bryce file. I constructed four sets of sub-assemblies composed of Land/Canal-Panels – 23 total; Canopy sections – one for each Land-Panel segment, 23 in all; Monorail/Rail, and Tree segments – 6 total – resulting in 4 Bryce files. Foreground plants, grass, and the singular tree (on right side of the image) were the final step -- rendered in Poser. Render time alone totaled 48 hours. The Process was Render followed by individual item Mask Render. Image assembly and post work in Photoshop came to 73 hours bringing the total process time to 121 hours – not including model construction, and rebuilds to address compositional issues, Bryce crashes, and other mundane comedy and chaos. Monorail and freight-engine are free on-line resources. Plants and grass are free on-line resources along with a few elements from Curious Proliferation. All other models are my own Bryce creations. As always thank you for your interest, thoughtful comments, and encouragement.

I am seriously impressed, a rare experience for me lately. What a true show of dedication. I wonder what version of Bryce was used, I wonder if it might have been easier to pull this off in Bryce 7 pro. B7 has much faster rendering than B5 and B6 as well as many other tools that make rendering faster. The idea is just so outstanding, the sense of size and grandeur. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing you need is some people in the picture enjoying the environment. Other than that, you got it!

Fabulous effort! I'm a huge fan of large space habitats and you've captured the scale and detail brilliantly. Top work.
