Description
I went crazy and bought a bunch of Carrara shader plug-ins from The Digital Carvers Guild.
This image is just me playing with them. Specifically of interest is the use of Anything Goos to create the chipped paint effect along the edges of the Vangard.
Also, from the Shaders Plus plugin is a nifty little feature that allows you to set how your shaders react to light, so I have the lights on the space station set so that they are only glowing on the dark side.
The stars were also created using the Starbright plugin, but its real power is in animations.
Thoughts, anecdotes and comments are always welcome!
Cheers!

Great work.

Very nice indeed. Shame the picture isn't bigger to show the detail a bit more. I love Anything Goos.

You can click on it to enlarge, it's HD sized.

Great classic sci fi composition. The materials seem like their highlight scales might be a bit off for the sizes, though that could just be my poor judgment. I really like the warm glow of the sun/star to the right. And the weathered edges work well to my eyes.

Awesome! Wouldn't it be called a Dyson's Sphere!

I just read on your post today that you went crazy - Is that why you haven't posted in a while? lol.... most of the time artist that say zoom in really don't have much to look at, but you were right with you HD - looks good.
