Description

Barnacles are on the menu, none for me though please. A little known fact by many, is that the circular whitish areas at the end of each arm are the eyes of the starfish. They don't literally "see" like our eyes, but act more like antenna, feeling their surroundings. Taken on the North jetty, Samoa sand dunes recreational area a couple years back. To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed the last image below. thumb_2315206.jpg

Great shot of our friend Pisaster ochraceus! AKA The Orange Ochre Sea Star. They also love dining on Mussels, and can live for up to twenty years.

I remember seeing a different type of starfish when I was a kid, more skinnier than this kind and this is such a great reminder of those old memories, my dad said the same thing about the eyes. A very nice capture with all those fine details!
