And the chief priests shouted - "His blood be on our heads and on the heads of our children!" And God heard them, and so it was. A very sad day in history for the Jewish people. They rejected their long expected Messiah, and called down condemnation on their heads. I pray this is forgiven them. And Pilate was tormented his entire life for not being more forceful, but... risk of riot, expediency, Rome's expectations on his keeping the peace. He was recalled to Rome in disgrace and sent to a small province in Switzerland, near Luzern, where he later threw himself down from the mountain that came to bear his name after his death - Mount Pilatus. What hatred, fear and hunger for power can do in people's lives. All strong negative emotions. But, God's love prooved stronger - the resurrection. May you have a blessed Easter. Very good rendering of his face - you capture the tearing between what is right and the coercion in the situation. Keep up the good work!

Nice composition and art effect, my friend. Roman procurator, Pontius Pilate, does get a bad press, but then, I suppose, he had never come across someone like Jesus before. The problem is that Jesus challenges each of us. How we react, how we accept or reject his gentle invitation can be the making of us. However, faced with peer pressure and threats, we might all look the other way, and wash our hands of Jesus, too. This Thursday we have the opportunity to join Jesus in service of others, in the common Christian ceremony, which involves the washing of the feet. Service he carried out, before his arrest, trial, torture and crucifixion. When His work was finished on the cross he gave himself to his Father. His rising from the dead is the reason that we can all have the hope of our own resurrection. He offers us his hand. The question each Easter is - Will we take it? Warm regards and thanks for a thought provoking composition, my friend. John.
