Description

The gondolier(for Emecielle/Maria) A big Cararra render that ran for 8 hours :) No postwork except for my signature. You may wish to zoom for nice details- Maybe anyone here have sailed in a gondola, in the Venice canals, for their own wedding? This image, is a dedication for my special friend from Sicily, Maria, also known here as, Emecielle. A special friendship that stretch from the virtual Rendo world, into the real world, where things are different. A friendship i am very grateful to be a part of. A friendship that literally helps, to keep me alive and kicking:) I hope you like this dedication, with everything in it, Maria.. Thank you, for your precious friendship. I have done my best, to put some proud Italian spirit into image and accompanying text. I could not find your beloved Etna or Sicily, for the software i use:) But if i ever do.. Maria, you will be the first to get a dedicated Etna theme render:) So instead..i had to used what i already have in my runtime folders. I still miss the classic shirt, worn by gondoliers, with horizontal red or blue stripes. My choice for the dedication, fell upon 2 products, i bought at Daz in 2008. The gondola, and Venice for Cararra. I never really used them for anything, before now. Mostly because, Cararra 7 and 8 software rendering, nearly kill my old dual core 2.6 CPU :) But i like the image and the result, so it was worth the 8 hours of waiting. The gondolier profession: To be a gondolier in Venice, is a 900 years old beautiful and romantic tradition. Many married couples have sailed the canals, of the historic and beautiful city of Venice, in a gondola. There are only 400 certified gondoliers in Venice. So it is a kind of proud and rare profession. One must graduate a special exam, to get the gondolier certificate, needed to work as a gondolier in Venice. A profession dominated by men, but Venice got it's first female gondoliers trainee back in 2008-2009. It takes a lot of physical strength, but also knowledge and remembrance of every single canal in Venice. It is expensive to become a gondolier too. A hand built wooden gondola... With an expected lifetime of approximately 20 years.. cost more than 25.000 dollars/20.000 EURO. Here is a couple of videos to set the mood for the image. Here you can see a 2 minute interview, with the first ever female gondolier trainee in Venice: Click here to see a 2 minute interview, with the first ever female gondolier trainee in Venice. And a wonderful live performance with Luciano Pavarotti(1935-2007) and Bryan Adams, singing..O solo mio(My one and only). It is obvious, that both of them, enjoy this performance and duet, very much: Click here to hear the song. On this wedding video, you can see the very beautiful hand made ornaments and details on the gondola: Click here to see beautiful hand made ornaments and details of the gondola. Hope you like the image. Thanks for any comments and/or faves. Happy Easter :)

Just zoomed in on this one Lars, and what a breathtaking work of art it truly is. The time you must have spent in getting it to look just right is hard to believe. This is one of those images that makes you feel like your right there, and you can almost hear the sounds of the gondolier as it passes by in the water. It makes for a fine dedi to your friend, and one that will be treasured by all who see it. It was a pleasure to read about the history of the gondolier you provided

a truly loving image, and there is no doubt it came from the same artist who did all those magical fantasies in the rest of this gallery. (I don't know quite how to explain it, but it still feels like a Lars image.) I agree with Dave that we feel we're right there. The idea of the woman/beloved, in the lap of the man, while she plays the violin is beautiful & simple. She has what I think are roses on her dress, and there are roses around the couple on the boat, and that of course is one of your many signatures. Your angles are very cinematic, and very tactile: Not being a 3D artist & therefore not having a clue what these pieces involve, I can only assume that getting the angle on the boat, harmonizing with the angle of the buildings, etc etc, takes real thought & planning. The gondolier is beautifully placed/composed in the whole, as is the bridge behind him & the left-most building. A splendid composition. And you get the decay and water soiling that's so common to that magical city. Also, your water is luscious, and so are the reflections, as well as the luminous hues you use for your actual signature. A beautiful shot, filled with unspoken fantasy, and with quiet lushness. And a beautiful dedi with wonderful words about your friendship which seems precious. I appreciate your sharing a bit of it with us, to accompany this beautiful image...(I've had problems with my fav's, they disappear: So know this is a fav upfront.)
