Description
Scanned from a 4X6 Matte finish photo. Nice texture contrasts in full view.
I did not mention last post that these blooms range from a large cantaloupe to as big as a volley ball in size.
This image here shows the bud just beginning to flower. Before this transformation the shape of the bud kind of looks like an Artichoke. I say that because it has harder segments that protect the forming flower inside. When the budding process just begins they sort of remind me of Pineapple's shape(minus the frond), and rather tough on the outside.

Terrific image! It reminded me of an artichoke too, so I looked it up. No relation (the Joshua Tree is a yucca and is closer to asparagus than to artichokes), but the resemblance is amazing!
