Description

...took this picture over the fence at Paine Field, Everett, Washington yesterday...3 miles from home. ...the sky caught my eye as much as the unfinished Dreamliner. ................................................. ...Boeing's main plant is here for manufacturing/assembling their newest airplane, the Boeing 787...also known as the Dreamliner. ...the first eight 787s have been delivered to Japan. ANA on this unfinished plane above stands for All Nippon Airlines. ...this one is awaiting horizontal stabilizers, rudder, ailerons, flaps, doors and engines. Why? All these assemblies are made in different countries and are flown in as needed. ...there's a lot of work to be done to fill the orders for 843 more. International business is booming. Bill P.S. Very zoomable. "Hard Tack" thumb_2316949.jpg

Talk about big business! I spent some time in a northern air control center watching screens of aircraft in the sky all over the world. They said it was a slow day but at that time there were 6,500 passenger aircraft just over North America...mind boggling just thinking about the fuel consumption, let alone everything else involved in the whole business. They actually asked me if I would consider working on air traffic control...said I would be good at it, as they were looking for steady guys like me. I said "What?" like I couldn't hear very well, and drew a great laugh, but I wasn't kidding, LOL! Love your shot Bill!

That sky is fabulous! Nice of them to put a blue-and-white plane out for you to shoot against that dramatic backdrop. A most excellent image!

A very unusual image Bill that i've never seen the like of. Great to see some companies are doing well in these times and it's a nice colour.

Beautiful photo, Bill. When I looked at the photo (before I read your text), I was asking myself - uh,oh, just what's happened to that plane? Then I read the text. I suppose the plane is being completed outdoors due to lack of enough indoor facilities. Must be a tough job with rain and other weather conditions. At least the parts to be added are always exposed to the weather, but... the fellows assembling the plane? I like the varying shades of blue and grey. The angle almost looks like the plane is ready to take to the sky. Keep up the good work! :-)

Great shot, well caught over the fence.. Useful to me as I have a snap a ANA Aircraft in my files awaiting Company name to be found! lol Now you've saved me the trouble! Now part two! LOL Knackered Bill.. This is English/British slang for broken.. Its not a 'bad' slang word so it CAN be used in polite Company lol There you go.. ;-) Rob

A great close-up, Bill! Beautiful sky as well...the clouds' formation are really superb indeed, as they look almost as though they are descending! Excellent subject and clarity!

Great POV and rich color in this gorgeous shot of the beautiful airliner, contrasted against the beautiful sky, Bill. Am not surprised that the components are manufactured all over the place, just like automobiles nowadays.
