Description

This is a statue in one of the alcoves in the Santa Barbara Mission. There were 2 statues in the alcove, one being Jesus and the other Mary Magdalene kneeling at His feet. They were very beautiful. (JOHN 20) 16 Jesus said, 'Mary!' She turned round then and said to him in Hebrew, 'Rabbuni!' -- which means Master (or Teacher, depending on the translation). 17 Jesus said to her, 'Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to the brothers, and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' An appropriate Easter upload, I believe. I will be busy, busy, busy the next few days, so I thought I would upload this a little early. Whatever you celebrate or believe this season, I wish you the best. :) Happy Easter! Hugs, ~ Melinda ~ My previous upload, "Where the Ocean Meets Land". Thank you for taking the time to visit, comment and/or fave.

A beautiful capture, Melinda, and an appropriate upload at this time. This Easter I have seen few signs of the religious feast, the greatest feast in the Christian calendar, and, perhaps surprisingly, little secular or commercial celebration and advertising either. 'It was necessary that Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead. Alleluia!' Let us just enjoy the peace and reassurance of the Easter message today. Warm regards ( well actually quite damp and chilly ... ;o) ) from Glasgow, John.

What a startling piece of sculpture. I'm always amazed at the amount of naturalism that can be drawn from stone. This is a profoundly detailed, quite marvelous piece of work and your capture of it and your treatment of it speaks wonderful volumes. This is a great shot.
