Description

Some people say they not fading or die off at all. I remember stories of people even my age saying when they went to school in the first grade they had to speak English. if not they was whip. In the National Geographic in the 1960's issues; I forgot what year or month but there was a story on the Cajun then and it say if you called someone a Cajun that was fighting words back then. It was like calling a black man a name today. anyway I think it fading and I painted this to show them fading. One man say yes to me as he do not like to go to his folks house or kinfolks as they just drink and get into fights. Tell me if it works. And even the two ways of painting in this image? I just showed it to someone and they walked away with they eyes wide and saying under her breath it differ alright. But it was an old lady. it done in acrylic on a 30x40 canvas

This reminds me of a scifi/fantasy movie I have seen long time ago. The setting is today but the main characters have to follow through with what have happened or else the past will be erased and things in the present will never occur. Wonderful work!

I think it communicates very well the fading of the old cultures and customs. Very well done, Jock! I hope we can keep some of the old customs and cultures intact for future generations.

Wonderfully freaky. I enjoyed viewing this. The abstract tonality give the image a sense of projecting out of the screen and directly into the viewer's space.

Dear Jocko500 As a Cajun myself living here in Deep South of Louisianna. I am very much aware of how our traditions and ways of life here have changed. Some would say that we just got cultured in the past years, but I believe we have lost alot of our culture in doing so. We had a language all our own, Cajun French, a way of life that we lived, fishing, shrimping, hunting and trapping, and a community that was close, didn't have to lock your doors or windows, when I was growing up. This picture discribes the cajun very well, we didn't just go away, we faded away into history.

Nice painting, Jock. You did great with her dress and I like the picture on the wall. The only problem about such painting as this, is that it always demands an explanation to be understood. :)
