Description
In the last rays of a fading sun, she had stumbled into onto a battle field, fought she knew from the clothing armor, and weapons long before she had been born. There were skulls and skeletons a plenty. She rummaged among them searching frantically for items that may be useful to her now. While she searched she kept an eye on her back trial.
She Had twice tried to double back, to where her comrades had fallen, in hoping to retrieve the lost map. Twice she had run into that wall of darkness, darker than the shadows, that seemed to be encroaching upon the forest itself. Swallowing everything it touched. On the second try she had even allowed her foot to move into that dark hole, and had recalled it, recoiling in shock.
It had been cold, but it was not the coldness that had caused her to recoil and flee back the way she had come. There was a deep foreboding of doom, of hopelessness, it had sent a burning un reasoning fear through every fiber of her existence. It was there just inside that darkness, eager waiting in anticipation of what was to come. There had been the feel of such evil, that she knew to fall to it was not death, but something far more terrifying.
She looked to the things she had gathered. A tinder box, with flint, a dagger rusted jagged, but serviceable. A set of swords, longer wider than those she had carried with her. " Sorry my friend, but I have more need of these than you.?"
She turned to check behind her. Startled by the closeness of that darkness, as if it had moved even quicker when she took her mind off it. She grabbed up her gifts, and fled into those dead woods before her, desperately seeking to put the distance back between her and that menacing hole of black!

A great story, well written and interesting, the image is finely done and the choice of black and white adds to the dark atmopshere ! Well done all together !

Nothing like good writing well illustrated. Definitely best to ZOOM this one, as the smaller version is a lot less clear.
