Description

~After the Battle~ (2012 revision) I was challenged by a fellow artist some time ago to revisit some of my early works and see if I could improve on them. Well, here is the first of them that I tackled as it was among the very first of my rendered images. I tried to stay as true to the original as possible. And, I would like to think that I have managed to improve a bit since I started :-) http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1637348&user_id=522472&page=16&member&np ~~~~ Michael 4 -- DAZ (DAZ) Man O' Man for M4 - Thorne (character mats and morphs) -- Mutedbanshe (RDNA) Feather Hair -- Goldtassel (DAZ) Celestial Armor -- Valandar (DAZ) Millennium Horse -- DAZ (DAZ) CWRW Pro Pack textures -- CWRW (DAZ) Spinebender horse armor -- Ravnhert (DAZ) Spinebender textures 2 -- Gordana (DAZ) Aedis Cantana base -- ?? Mission accomplished my love! I'd say this shows a marked improvement in your rendering skills since the original. The character and costumes look spectacular and the lighting really adds a much more dramatic feeling to the scene, while the setting, posing, and point of view are all very true to the original.

Fantastic image! Your lighting is dramatically better here than in the original... more realistic and moody. The framing, posing and setting are also much improved. A great measure of how far you've progressed... Excellent work!

Magnificent armour on both the horse and man, very solemn look to the image, which is entirely fitting.

So much better. The lighting is dramatic now, not just functionally lighting a scene but a character element in the drama. The colors are a lot richer and deeper as well. Plus just the simple act of cropping now fills the space with the character and eliminates a lot of distracting dead space. Glad to see you take this on; it will serve you well.

the first was nicely done, but THIS is spectacular. I like the colors much better, the detailing is impeccable, and the lighting really adds that finishing touches .. it sets the mood so nicley. So much more dramatic. As brewgirlca says, cropping it is the right thing to do, the eye goes only to the character and horse now, instead wandering all around. Still, the background to the first one was nice, but the character and horse for some reason got lost in it, too much gray maybe? The new version sure does show how much you've grown and how spot on your artist's eye has become.
