Description
Hermes waits in his temple until the gods summon...then the eyes of the snakes intertwined on his herald's staff begin to glow, its orb flares, the god stamps his foot, thunder sounds, and the magic of his winged sandals spreads forth and lifts him upward. He ascends to Olympus, to the abode of the gods, to hear their word and swiftly fly forth carrying their divine message to the human wold and beyond....
Hermes in Greek mythology is not only the messenger of the gods of Olympus, Hermes also carried the souls of the dead to Hades, and directed the dreams sent by Zeus to mortals. He was father to Pan, the satyr-like Greek god of nature, famous for his pipes; father of Priapus, whose prominent feature cannot be politely discussed; and father with Aphrodite of the androgynous Hermaphrodites. A busy sort of fellow!!
I got the idea for this scene when I saw the wonderful Godspeed outfit by IgnisSerpentus at DAZ 3D. For some reason it reminded me of costumes use to depict Greek mythological figures of early 20th century movies and stage plays. So I depicted Hermes here in a tableau that resembles some of those early (mostly silent) movies sets....but, of course, here not in black and white, but in brilliant technicolor! I hope you like it!
