Description

OK, here is a fun little experiment I did. I wanted to see how I have progressed in Vue and image design skills. To have a direct comparison, I picked one of my older images ("Ranger in the Hills" from late 2009, done in Vue 8: Also here in my gallery). The idea was to redo the image. Not identical, but keeping the main elements (Ranger, cat, village, hero trees, terrains in this case) and trying to see how I would approach it today. I did major changes to the ecosystems, atmosphere, lighting, materials and perceptive. Anyway, here is the result. What do you think? Am I moving in the right direction? Vue 10 Infinite. Ciao TD

Hi thd777, heck , this is superb work, outstanding, even brilliant. The composition is perfect, lighting excellent , DOF excellent, so yes you are most definitely moving in the right direction.Love this pic, it is such a beautiful and powerful scene, feel proud that you have learned so much and are such a capable artist.Congrats, if it was mine I would submit this pic to E-on software for picture of the day, do it now. You will be pleasantly surprised I am sure. This work has convinced me to make plans to upgrade to Vue 11 infinite when my upgrade comes around. Thanks for sharing this pic and the comparison pic, you sure have come a long way, immense improvements. Have a great week Later, :))

Fantastic image! I often revisit old characters I've posted for the same reason, and a comparison between this and the previous version shows a dramatic difference. The lighting here is much more realistic, the placement of the village more prominately on the hill top gives it greater presence and the cat was almost lost in your first version. You should be very proad of your growth as an artist!

Love the natural looking clumps of grass mixed with bald patches, very convincing. Very pleasing, balanced composition overall.
