Description
A look back at the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area from a small parking lot where the scenic loop rejoins the main highway.
It's hard to realize, while looking at this rugged and untouched scenery and wide open spaces that just around the curve on the right side of the image is a panoramic view of the broad urban sprawl of Las Vegas and its array of tall casino/resorts. In fact, just a mile or two down the highway is a big, modern resort.

Beautiful landscape scene Reminds me of the old west:) Would hate to know that right on the other side was the city of bright lights and one that never sleeps like New Orleans I like how that canyon stands so majestic with the mountain............ Hard to picture people actually lived here in the old west....I don't see how they survived......I guess not actually in the desert....but close by Love this..........so so pretty A fav with me Hugs Susan~

Excellent photo. Back in the sixties we lived on the edge of town and nothing stood between us and Red Rocks. We used to go there often. Thanks for the memory.
