Le Tettigoniidi (Tettigoniidae KRAUSS, 1902) sono una famiglia di insetti ortotteri del sottordine Ensifera, comprendente più di 6.400 specie. E' la sola famiglia nella superfamiglia Tettigonioidea. Sono note anche come cavallette verdi o cavallette dalle corna lunghe, e sono imparentate più strettamente con i grilli che con le locuste, a volte ugualmente denominate cavallette. Molte tettigoniidi esibiscono capacità di mimetismo e camuffamento, comunemente con forme e colori simili alle foglie. The Tettigoniidi (Tettigoniidae KRAUSS, 1902) are a family of insects of the suborder Ensifera Orthoptera, comprising over 6,400 species. It is the only family in superfamily Tettigonioidea. They are also known as grasshoppers or green long-horned grasshoppers, and are related more closely with the crickets with locusts, sometimes also referred to as locusts. Wow I love this shot. The spiky angular but bulbously cylindrical katydid and the bulbous spiky plant bud - in contrasting colours. Great! (In bronze colours these would definitely be naturally steampunk- cool!)
