Description
Just one of many sky fotos, captured 4/13/12, late morning, from my local Walmart parking lot.
Infinitely better viewed via ZOOM.
I get some of my best sky shots from parking lots because they are mostly free of overhead cables and wires, the bane of photographers, unless that is the desired subject matter.
Actually -- and not that anyone could tell the difference -- these were clouds following a previous storm, and not the one approaching that I had displayed in my Prestorm Clouds postings 1 and 2.
The faint halo around the sun is caused by millions of hexagonal ice crystals, acting as tiny prisms, 3 to 6 miles up in the troposphere where jet aircraft fly,
Adjo, thankx for stopping by, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

I know what you mean. The other day I took several awesome sky shots. Got home to find out only one did not have the line wires in it. Oh well better luck next time. Harry his is fantastic! Wow! Most impressive capture here!

It's amazing how many wires there are; we get so used to them being there that we don't really see them most of the time, unless we take a photo, of course! This is just gorgeous, Harry, at least a couple of different types of clouds and that lovely mist ring...good work doing the capture from Wal-Mart. I go to a local church that has a huge parking lot on a hillside near me when I want good sky shots.

it's funny, because when I see this I feel a certain calm rather than the aftermath of a storm. (Maybe that's because I'm in the midwest, and our storm clouds look like pea-green ugly monsters about to devour everything. This seems like a fairly agreeable sky to me, as did your previous pre-storm shots.) It's a very delicate display of clouds massing around the sun & leaving it just enough space to 'speak' to us. I know, of course, that you took the shot as the clouds were opening, ie, the clouds didn't 'pose' for you...but still, good photography makes it seem as if the whole world does pose for us, I mean that's the magic of photography. And it's amazing that sheer moisture can create so many morphs from the mere presence of 'overhead lighting': You captured those morphs beautifully in these recent shots. (Apologies to the sun for calling it "overhead lighting'. It was a slip of the tongue, Sol, don't put out ads against me!) The rainbow & natural bath of light proves to me that, for filtering, we've yet to develop anything as fine as nature itself. And you know, reading you & Denise, I'm suddenly struck at how few straight-up sky shots I take, but now I know why: Because of all the stuff that gets in the way! I never thought to go to a parking lot! What's funny about this is that you took this from Walmart, because clouds & sun are so cosmic, and the parking-lot of Wamart (or Walgreens or Best Buy) doesn't quite 'mix' with the former. It's like, "Super Nova, taken from its neighbor's lawnmower..." Fine & sensitive capture, Harry, as is the whole series.

Fantastic capture.

Clouds are always fascinating. You have captured quite a mix of kinds here.

I love cloud pics. For some reason it is calming and I want to tuck a short poem or bible verse in the corner. Must be the halo! Well done.
