Description

I found this "Cigar" among some old stuff that had been my fathers. Where HE got it from, I dont know. Nor do I know, what it was used for. But I could imagine, it might have been given to a groom before marriage, as a symbol to wish him getting many children or something :D Do any of you have any idea or knowledge about this? Have a beautiful day. We have cloudy but a bit warmer weather. As usual, Thank you for your always welcome viewing, commenting and fav to my previous post. :-)

I've never seen one of these before, but it does look like babys rapped up in blankets. You might be right Helle. ;) Excellent find and capture! :)

I would imagine it's the sort of thing someone might get upon the birth of a child. Does your country have a custom of the new father passing out cigars to his friends in order to celebrate his new fatherhood? It's an old custom here ... I don't think many people still do it. But this is just the sort of thing I imagine my grandfather might have had in his curio cabinet ... a souvenier from a treasured event. Such a fun thing to have! :)

I've never seen anything like that before... but it is a little cigar case? Interesting the babies in swaddling clothes as pendant! Excellent capture! :)

An interesting looking cigar, Helle! What a cool find this is! I like the way you've presented it with such a distinct contrasting background! A superb and unique presentation!

Oooh, maybe it's a birth cigar. I know in Chicago (and the USA in general) whenever a guy becomes a father, he passes out cigars, especially to his friends, but also to co-workers and people at the local pub, and even strangers on the streets, if he's really, really excited about being a new father, and maybe this is one he received because the father who handed it out didn't smoke? It does look like one of those fatherhood things, or maybe a kind of fertility icon that promises a big, healthy family to the owner of the cigar? Whatever it is, it's interesting and I think I'm going to have a lot of research to do. What a wonderful photo! It's both fun and mysterious.
