On November 2010, my beloved, 3D rendering-optimized laptop died, leaving me with just a single netbook. Being a student, and since it was the 2nd 800€ computer to die one month or two after then end of its warranty in a row, I couldn't afford to buy a new computer.
Slowly, I started using my netbook for stuff it wasn't meant for: 3d modelling and rendering. Of course, I can't do elaborate scenes, but this time I wished to realize from the beginning to the end a project, done exclusively with my netbook.
This ship is a Bayonet-Class Light Cruiser, heavily modified, as if we asked a Renaissance artist to re-decorate a Star Wars ship. The main inspiration for the ship design was the Palais des Beaux Arts in Lille, France.
Currently, most of the modelling is done, excepted theses 3 parts:
- The reactors, not shown in this picture
- The statuary: there should be several statues, including on each pedestal along the central axis of the hull, and various statues on the roofs.
- I'll also add little steeples on the top of the cupolas, and on the rear corners of the main building.
My current problem is that I'm running out of ideas for the steeples, and what kind of animal to use for the 18 statues on the pedestals. I'm thinking of an alley of sphinx-like creatures, like at the entrance of egyptian temples, but I would prefer them to be creatures from the Star Wars universe...
On top of this, I'm still considering myself as a newbie with Blender, and this will be by far my most evolved project... beyond all my actual skills.
As you may notice, I'm feeling a bit stuck. Feel free to give me more ideas!
